Gear up for the summer!
December 28, 2016
Summer is officially here, and as always it’s important that your employees dress appropriately for the season. Never let sun, sweat, and intense heat prevent your staff from looking and performing their best. Here are just a couple things to consider this summer:
Short-sleeve or long-sleeve?
It’s admittedly a little tempting to break out a short-sleeve shirt once it gets hot out, but wearing loose, long-sleeve clothing is beneficial for a number of reasons: first, the Skin & Cancer Foundation, Inc. recommends as little exposure to the sun’s harmful rays as possible. Lightweight cotton or poly-blend clothing (usually in a white or pastel color) can help reflect the sun’s UV rays and provide ventilation for your employees.
Second, particularly if you’re in the manufacturing or construction industry, short-sleeve shirts pose a variety of safety concerns for your business. Long-sleeves can protect your staff from harmful chemicals and fumes — things that short-sleeved uniforms leave your employees completely exposed to.
Are your employees comfortable?
If your employees are comfortable, they’re likely to work harder and perform better. And like everything else, your uniform needs are unique and specific to your business. Be sure to consult with your employees to determine what they need — and remember, the needs of each employee will vary based on what they do and where they do it.
Summer uniforms are a smart investment and an easy way to show your employees that you care about their safety and comfort. As things continue to heat up here in Australia, contact Australian Uniform Service to see how seasonal uniforms can serve your company’s bottom line.
